Little is known about the Veitch Hotel, aside from a few of the owners. They include the man it shares a name with, Thomas Veitch, and Edward Cowan. It was one of 4 hotels in Metcalfe featured on maps between 1889 and 1908. It sat on the corner of Victoria and Albert (now known as 8th line). It can be seen on the 1889 Metcalfe Fire Insurance Plan. The hotel had two other names during its time: Dr. McKays Hotel and Cowan’s Hotel.
