Ottawa’s Jewish cemetery, today known as the Jewish Memorial Gardens, was founded in 1892 in Gloucester Township. In 1976, a second cemetery was opened in Osgoode Township after the first cemetery ran out of space. The Osgoode location of the Jewish Memorial Gardens is home to the community Genizah and conducts an annual burial of shaimos (religious items).
