In what is now Victoria Park in Metcalfe, a hotel used to sit. The building was constructed by Andy Baker and originally as a house. It was sold to Andrew York who turned the building into a hotel. After York, the hotel was owned by many people, including James Stallmayer, Patrick O’Connor, and James Dowser. Under the care of Patrick O’Connor the hotel was often referred to as the Paddy O’Connor Hotel. It stood till the 1970s when it was torn down and a park replaced it in 1990.
